We love water. And we protect it through our commitment and our products. This was already the case in 1949 when Josef Grünbeck founded the company "Wasser-chemie und Apparatebau". In the early years, the company traded in water treatment products without producing them itself.
Even in the company's early days, Grünbeck was characterised by its commitment on an equal footing. A relationship based on partnership was cultivated with employees, communication was transparent and great importance was attached to a corporate culture characterised by mutual respect.
In 1967, Josef Grünbeck had his company’s new administration and production facilities built in Hoechstaedt.
Employee participation in the company took on a new and official dimension in 1968 with Grünbeck's "social partnership" model.
Grünbeck is reinforcing the development and production of its own water treatment products and, since 1980, has operated as Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH. At the same time, sales companies were being established in several European countries.
In 1995 the company obtained the DIN EN ISO 9001 certification, as well as country-specific approvals, such as GOSSTANDART and UDT. The path to dynamic, international growth was clear.
Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH's commitment to keeping water clean has been rewarded with the Bavarian Quality Award. The award, which has been conferred since 1997, honours not only Bavarian municipalities, but also Bavarian companies "who drive quality assurance concepts throughout the company with innovative solutions". For Grünbeck, the award represents a clear confirmation that it is on the right track with its focus on the highest quality.
1998 Grünbeck is granted the certification for medical devices.
Measures such as the certification according to the environmental management system in 2004 emphasise Grünbeck's transparency-based ambition to combine responsibility for people and the environment with efficient entrepreneurial action. Proof of this is also the award of 4 stars by the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Partnerschaft in der Wirtschaft e. V." (AGP) (Working Group for Partnership in Business) for a real partnership-based corporate culture.
In 2009, Grünbeck’s development project “Decentralised Water Supply for Brazil” was honoured as “Leuchtturmprojekt 2009” (Beacon Project 2009).
The company continued to expand in Europe with the foundation of Grünbeck Italia S.r.l. and the Dutch Grünbeck Waterzuivering B.V..
In 2010, the Loni and Josef Grünbeck Foundation was set up, which permanently ensures the independence of the Hoechststaedt-based company.
In 2013 Grünbeck opened the "Grünbeck Forum". The new four-storey building became a venue for setting benchmarks in education in relation to water and water treatment.
Grünbeck continued to grow: In August 2013 the number of employees in Hoechstaedt exceeded the 500 mark for the first time. At this time, Grünbeck was present at 25 locations in Germany, as well as worldwide with another 250 employees in all major markets.
The German pioneering spirit is famous: Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH is doing its part. In April 2014, the company based in Hoechstaedt was voted one of the 50 most innovative medium-sized companies, by the trade journal "Wirtschaftswoche", from a total of 3,000 companies in Germany.
Grünbeck is the only representative in the water treatment industry to be ranked 43rd in the Wirtschaftswoche ranking. Grünbeck thus underlines the importance of innovation work in the company, and not only with regard to products and a forward-looking, sustainable corporate strategy. This includes production, as well as social issues, such as the employee participation model.
Grünbeck seized the opportunities of the digital world at an early stage. As a company, we were already on the internet with a website for the first time in 1998. Grünbeck apps have been providing partners and customers with a wealth of planning and product information for several years now.
The most recent digital overhaul dates back to March 2015. Our website is undergoing its relaunch, at the same time as raising our brand profile and the remodelling of our corporate design. Visually even more appealing and comprehensively informative, we present our employees' skills and products, our commitment to "water" as a precious commodity, our educational institution, our technologies and our 70-year company history on www.gruenbeck.de.
In the course of specifying the new corporate identity, products in residential water treatment systems were given a new design.
The softliQ water softeners were, as from
2015, the first to establish themselves on the market.
The pureliQ filter series followed in 2017. This was visually adapted to the water softeners.
Following further product launches, the exaliQ dosing systems were optimised and added to the Grünbeck portfolio in early 2019. In this context, it is particularly worth mentioning that the EXADOS dosing technology, which has been tried and tested for five decades, could be incorporated into the new design. All new products offer a perfect interplay of softness, purity and safety.
Grünbeck celebrated its 70th anniversary and welcomed approximately 8,000 visitors to its open day. The company's guided tours, taking place on a regular basis, were particularly popular, allowing guests from near and far to get an idea of the different production areas.
Grünbeck is planning investments of well over 80 million euros at its established location in Hoechstaedt. By expanding the production, logistics and office buildings, the company is creating important conditions for the company's future, for safe workstations and for the preservation of water as a vital resource. As part of the "Plant Planning 2040" Project, construction measures are planned in different phases.
Sustainable and elegant The new SODA JET Office drinking water dispenser always looks good with its powder-coated metal housing and brushed stainless steel front. As a table-top unit, with or without a matching lower cabinet, it meets the highest hygiene and quality standards and is therefore ideal for use in trade, industry and commerce, in offices or medical practices, as well as in public facilities, hospitals, kindergartens and fitness centres. It produces chilled still, mildly sparkling or sparkling-fresh table water directly from the tap.
Years of successful brand work pay off. Grünbeck was awarded the exclusive "Brand of the Century" award by the ZEIT publishing house.
A jury of several members decided on Grünbeck in the water treatment category. The supporting statement says that the brand stands for quality of life and value preservation, as well as for the endeavour to grant people around the globe access to hygienically clean water and to maintain it in the long term.
Green hydrogen with Grünbeck technology. The renewable electricity generated is used to break down water into "green" hydrogen and oxygen. Grünbeck presents turnkey desalination plants that produce the purest water designed specifically for the electrolysis process. New employment opportunities are also being created as part of this sustainable growth field.
With Jan Delay and the brand promise "We make it happen," Grünbeck breathes new life into the sanitary, heating and air-conditioning industry. Grünbeck products and innovative technology are the centre of attention as everyday partners and problem solvers. The song "Klar" by Jan Delay from 2006 will be at the heart of the campaign.
