Nuon’s biomass power plant in Lelystad was put into operation in 2000 and has a maximum electrical capacity of 1.5 megawatts and a maximum thermal capacity of 6.5 megawatts. The power station supplies electricity and heat to 5,000 households and buildings.
To replace the existing central ultra pure water treatment plant, NUON Lelystad wanted to purchase an entirely new ultra pure water treatment plant.
The project was from design, production, delivery through to implementation and approved commissioning. This new centrally installed installation had to be connected to the existing drinking water network. NUON initially asked for a 1 m3/h installation, but eventually they opted for a 2 m3/h installation. Since the ultra pure water requirement was ≤0.0055 μS/cm, a reverse osmosis plant with post-switching EDI plant and desaliQ BA20 mixed bed filter was chosen as polishing. Because the installation is so important and the power station cannot afford any breakdowns, a second reverse osmosis installation has been installed as redundant. There are also always demi water systems on site, which can supply ultra pure water in the event of a failure of the EDI.
