Douwe Egberts (or DE) is a Dutch company that processes and markets coffee, tea and other foodstuffs. The company was founded in 1753. In 1978, after a number of steps, the company eventually became fully owned by the American company Sara Lee. In mid-2012, the company was spun off under the name D.E. Master Blenders 1753 NV. In late 2019, it merged with Peet’s Coffee and the two continue under the new name JDE Peet’s.
In December 2019, JAB announced it was merging its two coffee companies Peet’s Coffee and Jacobs Douwe Egberts. The two are going together under the new name JDE Peet’s. At the end of May 2020, this company was listed on the Amsterdam stock exchange of Euronext.
Jacobs Douwe Egberts is an international player in the field of coffee and tea. In the Netherlands, more than 2,100 colleagues work together to contribute to the success of our leading brands such as Douwe Egberts, Senseo, L’OR, Pickwick and Piazza D’Oro.
To replace the existing water softening plant, JDE wanted to purchase an entirely new water softening plant. The assignment was from design, production, delivery to implementation and approved commissioning. This new centrally installed plant ultimately had to supply 60 m3/h of softened water. It was also JDE’s express wish to use less salt per year (from 140 to ±70 big bags per year). JDE initially purchased 4 delta-p softeners and later expanded with a 5th installation. As the usage can be between 2 and 60 m3/h, a cascade control was chosen for the softeners. This ensures that if the demand rises, one installation is switched on each time.
